This is me being a super organized and focussed badass in 2019 (and bragging about it).
.
For @queeritco, I have my daily, weekly, and quarterly task list mapped to our revenue goal for 2019, using the amazing @profitplanner method. .
For @crescendowork, I have all my tasks mapped out according to our product roadmap, KPIs and OKRs, and templates and guides built for all my regular responsibilities.
.
I have time blocked out to do my @smartlyhq MBA coursework, social hangs, exercise, 12 step meetings, work, solo relaxation, and repeating tasks in my list for everything I need to remember so I won’t forget (including birthdays!)
.
This might seem like too much planning for some of you. But for those of us who are overachievers, it helps so much to trust that if we follow a schedule and do the tasks we wrote down, everything is going to be alright. .
I’m so excited to be more relaxed and joyful this year, to accomplish even more and to really enjoy relaxing and spending time with friends and with myself without worrying about work all the time. .

✨ Queers deserve rights, care, and happiness. ✨
.
This content discusses queerphobia.
.

And so ends my trip to my hometown of Steinbach, MB. Steinbach is a city where the majority of residents have voted for politicians that refuse to show their faces at the pride parade. It is a place where the mega church in town encourages homophobia and transphobia. It is a place where queers are told that they are “the only one”. It is a place where queer and trans youth live on the street because they are disowned by their Christian families. It is a place rampant with violence, self-harm, homelessness, and willful ignorance towards queer and trans people and their lives and experiences. This is where I spent the last 12 days.
.
Thank goodness for the safe haven that my mom, family members, and friends have created for me. There is a minority of people that advocate for LGBTQIA+ people in Steinbach, and my mom does this work. Outside of the safety of her house, I decided to respond to the strange looks people have me this trip with a big smile. I decided to focus on my support systems and my own strength and healing. I decided to correct people when they misgendered me. It was so much work but this kind of work will make a difference for the queer and trans ppl still living in Steinbach, unable to escape. If you are reading this and this is you, please know that you can reach out to me at any time in my DMs. It’s so hard there but there are allies that are ready to support.
.
I took a couple of days away from Steinbach to treat myself to some self-care in Winnipeg. I got a pedicure, stayed in an awesome AirBNB in a queer household, and got an awesome new tattoo from my friend @paulverizer. And you know what? I DESERVED IT. I deserve to prioritize my happiness and feeling of safety, and so do you. We deserve to occupy spaces where we don’t always have to correct, educate, fight, minimize, or hide. We deserve to thrive, to have a feeling of lightness, to speak out loud in public about my communities and my gender and my feelings about homophobia. We deserve to BE WELL as OURSELVES. .
I’m coming for you, Montreal. I can’t wait to be home.
We are pretty cute, aren’t we? 👯‍♀️
I’ve been working with @crescendowork since August doing Techstars’ super intense tech accelerator. Being a generalist in tech and in life, and this being my first tech job outside of my own business, it has been a big challenge to bring consistent, deep value to my work, when what I am used to doing is flitting around doing many things and covering all my bases (like a solo founder is wont to do). In the last few weeks it became clear that I needed to focus in on ONE THING and really shine at it (thanks @thetrendytechie for the tip) if I were going to continue to be a good fit for Crescendo. So, I became an expert in getting feedback from our users, quantifying their qualitative feedback, and delivering that feedback to the team in an effective way. And today I am so happy to announce that Crescendo has decided to keep me on as product designer in 2019! I LOVE this company and these people and our mission and the way we communicate and work together. I have learned so much in this role and I can’t wait to continue to grow as I help grow our product, our user base, and a culture of inclusivity in tech. Thank you @thetrendytechie, @tubadsouza and @stefankberg for believing in me and supporting me and keeping me close as we move into the next phase of the company. I seriously love you.
