I honour with gratitude and humility the Mohawk people on whose land I live and who teach me patience, open-heartedness and deep care for this land and the people around me, especially for those who are different than me. My blood lineages of English, Welsh, Scottish, German, and Russian Mennonite elders and ancestors. All of the queer and transgender people who came before me and made it possible for me to live as I do today. Individual friends, acquaintances, strangers, authors of books I’ve read, all of whom have touched me and taught me. My family, who teaches me about how to love when it is easy and when it is hard. The land on which I grew and which lives in me as a feeling of home and connection: the Prairies of Southeastern Manitoba, Treaty 1 territory, and the Boreal Shield of Ontario, Treaty 3 territory, land of the Anishinabewaki, Métis, and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Thank-you.
